Precision Machining
Walker Forge provides precision machining as a value-added service for customers that want to consolidate more of the forged-component supply chain with one manufacturing partner. Machining can be integrated with forging and heat treatment to move components closer to final dimensions and ready-for-duty condition while reducing outside handling and supplier handoffs.
Machining as Part of the Total Process
Walker Forge’s total-process approach connects forging, heat treating, precision machining and metallurgical validation around the requirements of the component. This allows customers to coordinate more manufacturing operations through one source rather than moving forged parts between multiple independent suppliers.
Our Total Process examples demonstrate how machining can be incorporated into complex forged-component programs. For example, the Walker Forge Track Link program includes milling, boring and broaching on a multi-station CNC as well as wire EDM for a close-tolerance slot.
